K is for Kylie

Whenever I hear the word, kylie, I immediately think of Kylie Minogue. Always been a fan, probably because she’s my age and I felt like I grew up alongside her when she played on the Aussie soap, Neighbours. And, she’s great in concert. Loved her 2015 Christmas concert at the Royal Albert Hall (didn’t go but watched it on TV).

What I didn’t know is that a kylie is a boomerang! So, maybe after all these years I’ve been attracted to the word kylie because it reflects my approach to life. I’m a boomerang?

Boomerang approach to writing: write my story, polish it as well as I can, then aim and throw it with precision to a prospective target. Up until now, it’s come back with a note attached – hopefully this will turn into positive reviews once I aim it in the right direction and hit the right target.

Boomerang approach to life: I set myself goals, go for it full steam ahead, learning along the way and come back home to put things into perspective, reflect and set new goals. Luckily, there is always someone special waiting to catch me.
Did you know kylie is a boomerang? Do you have kylie moments?

  6. i b aroara and you have a point: life boomerangs what we throw into it ... usually with interest! You plant wheat and you get wheat, not corn, and more of it than you planted! Thanks for the gracious words on my blog this morning. :-)

  7. I've learned something new today! Hurray. I've never heard that word or even had an inkling what it meant. I do, however, know we get back what we hurl at the universe. Today's a good day to hurl some happiness out there! I'm planning to do that.

  9. Kylie is a new word for me, I only knew boomerang. . .but love learning new words. I do set goals, but I have a 'terrier' approach and don't let go of those goals easily. . .

  10. I had no idea a kylie was a boomerang. It's good to be a boomerang. Go out into the world, regroup at home and go out again. I like that.

    1. She's a singer from Australia. My husband would say it's a good thing not to know Kylie M. He's more into Iron Maiden, AC/CD type stuff. Yes, I do mean stuff - that's not music - it's noise :):)

  14. Interesting, I'm not sure I'm a boomerang, more of an adventurer who doesn't look back, must take the next road not traveled. Well, I used to be, now I'm tethered by family and responsibilities, but who knows maybe there's another adventure still waiting for me. LOL
But I've always set goals, so maybe there a bit of the kylie in me after all!

    1. I used to be more of an adventure and just ploughed forward. I've lost a little bit of that gumption since having a family. There's always a new adventure waiting, Yolanda :)

  17. I never knew Kylie was a boomerang. I've learned so many new words this month. I admire your attitude about throwing your work out to beta readers and waiting for it to Kylie back and the same when you set goals. Good for you. I need to take lessons from you and stop my procrastination.

  18. Kylie Minogue! Oh, I do like her. She's engaged to the actor that played Galavant (which I am totally fan-girling over).

    Ahem.

Boomerang, yes! My writing is a bit like a boomerang, where I throw it at a project but then a swooping curve takes it in a different direction. At least yours are coming back with notes. :)
